The annual Canada Day festivities put on by the City of Surrey are always an event to remember. Each year, Surrey plans a picture-perfect and fun-filled day for families to celebrate our nation’s birthday. This year is no exception. Surrey Canada Day will be a day packed full of entertainment, arts and crafts and much more.

Musical Entertainment for Everyone

Surrey Canada Day features artists from all genres of music. They even have included lead children’s music artists! Be sure to get a seat near the Chevron Main Stage early as it will be packed throughout the day.

Matthew Good is a multi-platinum award winning Canadian musician. He will be performing his many hits to headline Surrey Canada Day, right before the fireworks show. Country fans will enjoy the down home sounds of Country Divas and Ray Gibson as they perform their hits and select covers from country music’s rich past. Daniel Wesley, a local White Rock native, will rock out with his awesome original rock and roll music. Kyprios, a hiphop MC from North Vancouver, and DJ Flip-Out, the Canada Day DJ, will astound with snappy smooth and flowing mixture of rapping and harmony.

There will also be a selection of eclectic acts will make you laugh and clap. Get a glimpse of history with Cedar Hills Caledonian Pipe Band. These local highland dancers and pipe players include several generations of family members. The DRS ‘B-Boy’ Crew brings the funk with their energetic breakdancing routines. The Vancity Bhangra performers bring their creative takes on traditional dances to the stage.

Kids in particular will be entertained. Don’t miss the famous North American ventriloquist Norma McKnight and her puppet pals as she’ll bring out the kid in everyone. Matt Henry, a fine practitioner of the juggling arts, will amaze with his juggling tricks. Will Stroet, a children’s educator and entertainer, will delight both the young and young at heart with his award winning music.

The night will of course end with a wonderful fireworks show, planned to start at 10:15pm. Visitors are advised to watch from the field in the Cloverdale Millennium Amphitheater. The show for this year is expected to be even bigger and better than last year, so be sure you get there early and source out a good viewing area.

A Great Day to Get the Family Together

Surrey Canada Day is the perfect reason to take a family bike ride, and the festival planners have great biking route maps available for download on their website. And after your ride, simply lock your bikes up at the provided bike racks and step right into the heart of the festival. Walk around and enjoy the festivities at your leisure, and head home at your convenience without spending time in traffic.
